Why Choose Store-A-Tooth
It's important to carefully evaluate the quality of a banking provider before entrusting them with your family's precious stem cells. At Store-A-Tooth, we've focused on quality throughout our process so that your child's stem cells are successfully collected, safely and securely stored, and available in the best possible condition if and when they are needed.
- Tooth Collection Kit: The core component of our kit, the Save-A-Tooth® device, is FDA-approved and ADA-accepted for the transport of knocked-out teeth for reimplantation. In use worldwide by dentists, school nurses and sports teams for over 20 years, the Save-A-Tooth device helps protect the dental pulp in your sample during transport to our lab.
- Transportation: We provide for overnight shipping to our lab in a temperature-controlled kit to maximize the quality of the stem cells in your sample.
- Processing: Our lab conforms to FDA guidelines for human cell and tissue-based products, and cultures cells in a class 10,000 clean room.
- Quality Control Testing: The performance of our processes in recovering viable stem cells is confirmed both by growth of the cells in culture and by flow cytometry testing to confirm the presence of the appropriate cell surface markers.
- Lab Accreditations: Our lab is FDA-registered and is licensed by the departments of health in a number of states, including NY, IN and MD. In addition, it is CLIA certified and accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).
- Storage: Our lab uses the latest freezer technology and computer software for the secure storage of biological specimens, with a bulk liquid nitrogen delivery system, backup generators, in a gated storage facility with 24-hour security surveillance. Over 50,000 samples are stored in this 10,000 sq. ft. facility.
- Credibility: Our lab has received funding from the government to do research on dental stem cells and has published protocols on how to store dental stem cells in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In addition, Provia Labs is working with the National Cancer Institute's Biospecimen Research Network toward the development of best practices for the collection, processing and storage of human biospecimens.
- Consumer Choice: Store-A-Tooth gives customers a choice in how their sample is prepared for cryopreservation – 'whole tissue' service, 'cultured cell' service, or a combination of the two to 'cover all bases':
- 'Cultured Cell' service means the stem cells are expanded in the lab prior to cryopreservation –you receive a lab report which shows flow cytometry results of relevant stem cell biomarkers, providing you maximum certainty that a high volume of dental stem cells has been stored.
- 'Whole tissue' service provides minimal manipulation of the tissue prior to cryopreservation – this preserves the tissue as close as possible to its original state.
