Collecting Dental Stem Cells

Can I do this at home?

Store-A-Tooth only accepts teeth that are professionally removed or extracted by a dentist and promptly placed into our patented tooth transportation device. By working closely with dentists, Store-A-Tooth ensures that teeth are collected under optimal conditions for recovery of the stem cells.

Which teeth are best?

All healthy teeth contain dental pulp that is a potential source of stem cells. To date, scientists have shown that the best teeth are either the four front lower baby teeth, or wisdom teeth that are surgically removed. However, all healthy teeth including those that have been removed for orthodontic reasons also work.

Do teeth with cavities work?

In many cases, yes. Consult with your dentist.

When should I schedule my visit to the dentist?

Immediately after you notice the tooth is loose, contact Store-A-Tooth. We will work with you schedule an appointment as quickly as possible.

Do I need to bring anything to the dentist's office?

No. Participating dentists are fully equipped to provide Store-A-Tooth services. However, to make things easier we suggest downloading and completing the Enrollment Form prior to your visit.

What does the dentist do?

Your dentist will follow his or her normal program for removing teeth, in many cases including the use of local anesthesia.

How long does it take?

The process can often be done in a few minutes.

Will my dentist charge me a fee for the collection?

Your dentist will make that decision - some dentists charge a nominal fee for the tooth extraction procedure.

What do I tell the Tooth Fairy?

If needed for your child, Store-A-Tooth has given your dentist a Tooth Fairy certificate that certifies your child has lost a tooth, simply ask for one.

What happens after I leave the dentist office?

Your dentist will pack the cells in our patented tooth transport kit and send them to our laboratory. In the lab, the teeth are processed, undergo a viability assessment, and the cells are banked in extremely cold temperatures, keeping the cells safe until you need them. Both you and your dentist will receive confirmation that the sample was received, processed, and stored.
