What are your laboratory’s qualifications?
Our 45,000 sq. ft. facility is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, FDA registered and compliant, CLIA certified, and licensed by the Departments of Health in NY, MA, and CA. Our lab has a 25-year history of preserving human tissues, blood, and stem cells for clients in over 13 countries, with over 385,000 samples stored.

What happens when the sample gets to the lab?
After the sample arrives at our laboratory, our laboratory assesses the sample for viability. If the processed sample passes this assessment, it is equilibrated with a cryoprotectant to stabilize the sample, frozen using our controlled-rate freezers, and transferred to liquid nitrogen vapor phase freezers for long-term storage. Both you and the dentist will receive confirmation that the sample was received, processed, and stored.

How long can the stem cells be stored?
Stem cells have been viably stored for at least 15 years, and other cells have been viably stored for decades. Our laboratory is a global leader in cell preservation and has provided cryopreservation services for over 25 years.

How do I know my sample will not be confused with someone else's?
All samples are barcoded and tracked through the entire process using a sophisticated sample management and logistics system. These systems have been used for years to collect hundreds of thousands of samples.

Does Store-A-Tooth culture, expand, or differentiate the cells prior to cryopreservation?
No. Any of these processes can alter the characteristics of the cells and potentially limit their usefulness. In addition, these processes often include the use of animal products such as blood components from cows, which may make the cells unfit for use in humans.
Our lab has developed a new process specifically for handling dental stem cells. Our laboratory uses no animal products in processing dental stem cells and handles these tissues according to what the FDA refers to as ‘minimal manipulation’, in order to preserve the tissue in as close as possible to its original state - so it has the highest potential in the future if needed.
